Jordan Rykal, Corey Muenzhuber, Mac Buege, and Derek Brinker kept the Royal momentum going during summer play this past week.
Rykal, fresh off the bag for Mac's US Junior Amateur qualifier the week before, attempted to qualify for the same at Victory Links GC in Blaine and join his fellow teammate in Michigan, not as a caddy, as a competitor. Jordan appeared destined to do just that after an opening round 67 led the field for the two qualifying spots. Rykal found some trouble in the tall fescue bordering the fairways during his second round and unfortunately came up short. His 67 was the low score of the tourney.
Derek Brinker, playing in the first MN Jr PGA Players Tour event of the summer, shot a 3 under 69 at Edinburgh USA to win by three. Brinker's birdie barrage, eight total, secured a three shot victory and qualifies him for the Tournament of Champions at Giants Ridge in August.
Corey Muenzhuber got his second hole in one at The Classic in Brainerd on the 185 yard Par 3 twelfth hole. The shot came in a non-competitive round.
Mac Buege continued his assault on the US National Championship qualifiers. He backed up his recent US Junior qualifying with a 67-71 at Braemar this week to earn a spot in the US Amateur Publinks Championship in Greensboro, NC. Mac's July is starting to fill up. The Publinks is the 12-17 and the Junior is the 18-23.
