A true team effort propelled the Royals to a first place tie after Day One of the 2011 MN State High School AAA golf tournament.

On a breezy, pleasant day, Rogers was led by senior McCabe Buege who shot a even par 72, yet the key of the first eighteen holes of the two day tourney were the solid contributions of Jordan Rykal (76) and Morgan Rask (75). Eden Prairie, the odds on favorite, is tied at 299 with the Royals. The Eagles benefit from a deep, experienced squad and Rogers will need a repeat of today's performance to have a chance at the crown.

Corey Muenzhuber's 76 rounded out the counting scores. Senior Phil Ballard chipped in with an 80 after a front nine 37. Zach Hnath carded a 40-43-83. Buege is currently tied for third two back of leader Max Kelly of Forest Lake. Rask is tied for 22nd and Muenzhuber and Rykal 26th.
