Amidst the swirling winds at Bunker Hills GC in Coon Rapids on Thursday, the reigning Section 5AAA Champion Rogers Royals defended their crown. Osseo had shown some signs early this spring of presented a challenge in the section but a sub-300 team effort by the Royals (299) bested the Orioles by nine shots.

This season has proven the future of Royals golf shines brightly as juniors Muenzhuber (73, 2nd place) and Rykal (79) continue to post scores justifying their individual state rankings. Sophomore Morgan Rask (78) has found his comfort zone in elite tournament play as well. This trio will form the core of the 2012 campaign.

McCabe Buege is one tournament away from the end of his high school career. He earned the additional opportunity by defending his Section 5AAA Individual title with a three under par 69.

Together with the rest of the section squad, Muenzhuber, Rykal, Rask, Phil Ballard (85), and Zach Hnath (81), Buege leads the Royals to the MN State AAA Championship at the same course, Bunker Hills GC in Coon Rapids, on June 14-15
